Elements of an Enrollment Conversation

People move forward when they see an opportunity for themselves. Simply put, enrollment is the art and practice of generating a spark of possibility for others to share. Here, enrollment has been broken down into five distinct "mini" conversations.

1.   Conversation for Relatedness

s Is there a relationship sufficient to work together? Mutually satisfying?

s Is there a “zone of safety” allowing for freedom of expression?

s
Is there connection…mutual respect and mutual understanding?

2.   Conversation for What Is Possible (Vision)
s What ideas, desires do they share that will allow for an opening?

s Three things to listen for: Is the individual Ready, Willing and Able? All three
components must be present for enrollment to occur.

3.   Conversation for Opportunity
s When the individual sees an opening (opportunity) for themselves, they normally
               move forward.

4.   Conversation for Action
          s What by when

5.   Conversation for Resolving Breakdown
s Upset because something did not work? Identify what was missing.

s
Identify what really happened versus an interpretation. (facts versus
               assumptions
