Officers Were Left In Tears When They Looked Into The Back Seat Of A Drunk Driver

Deputies from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department, Roger Garcia and Sam Rodriguez were on duty when they stopped a highly intoxicated man. 24-year-old Jeffrey Salas was driving while being highly drunk with three children in the back seats. There was a 5-year-old, a 2-year-old, and a 2-month-old and the youngest was not buckled into the car seat.

The officers did not want the children to see any negative actions being taken place by the officers in case the children lose hope in the police department and therefore took the highly intoxicated father of the scene. When Roger and Sam looked at the kids they looked like they had not eaten anything for a long time so when they asked the children when they had something to eat last they replied: “Can’t remember.”

The deputies called more officers onto the scene to help with the children. One officer helped change the babies diaper while the other two went to get a meal for the children from McDonald’s. Roger Garcia managed to find some baby formula milk which he then made in a bottle and fed the baby. Later that night Jeffery Salas was arrested and taken to prison and the three young children were handed over to Children Youth and Families Department where they were looked after as they should have been.
