Richard Thomas aged 27 from England, Greater Manchester broke into a woman’s home and raped her. The woman had taken a sleeping tablet and woke up to Thomas raping her. Richard had admitted that he was heavily drunk that night and had also taken drugs and therefore cannot recall the incident that took place of him raping this woman.
The woman had told the court that “She froze and no words were exchanged. He pulled up his shorts and left.” But after Richard Thomas was convicted and sentenced 5 years and 4 months for rape he discovered that the woman was HIV positive and he had caught HIV from her. He told the police that he knew she was ill but not with something like this.
Virginia Hayton, his barrister later said: “It is his own fault if he had not committed this offense he would not have placed himself in this position.” Do you agree? Did he deserve this? And was this a form of Karma?
