Family Adopts Wounded In Combat Marine Dog, They Thank Him For Saving Lives

Marine Corps Private First Class Colton W. Rusk, 20, was deployed in Afghanistan with his military combat dog. During a firefight, Rusk was unfortunately killed in combat but his dog stayed by his side. Fellow Marines said that Eli climbed on top of Rusk’s body and protected it until the whole thing finished. The 4-year-old Labrador retriever was later presented to Rusk’s family as a special ceremony. Eli has received several medals for saving lives of fellow Marines, and the family knows how special he is.
