The National Geographic were stunned when they discovered Jadav Payeng’s story and what he has done for this planet. Since 1979 Jadav Payeng has taken it upon himself to change a part of this earth for the better, by planting a tree every day for the rest of his life. On a remote island of Majuli, Jadav Payeng wished to restore his land to its former glory that his parents used to talk about. He dreamt of a land full of greenery and life within it. A single Mishing tribal teenage boy grew up to create 1,360 acres of dense forest and is now known as the ‘Forest man of India’.
