A Springville teenager who beat his girlfriend’s 23-month-old son to death told the judge that he did not intend to kill the toddler. 16-year-old Dylan Schumaker was overcome with emotions as he entered the courtroom to hear out his sentencing. His lawyer protested that he be given a lowered sentencing because he was ‘sorry’ and it was not his intentions to beat the baby to death. His lawyer claimed that he tried disciplining the child for crying and his anger took over, they pleaded that he was “inexperience in babysitting”. Schumaker begged the court for forgiveness and a lowered sentencing, as he claimed that he would not last a day inside the prison.
